Communications Watch Officer
TechOp has an opportunity available for key personnel to provide support to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Infrastructure Protection. National Infrastructure Coordinating Center (NICC) Watch Officers have the responsibility of communicating infrastructure related information to numerous government and industry partners. This position involves shift work providing coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to maintain operational awareness of the nation’s Critical Infrastructure. Location of the position is Herndon, Virginia.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Research all-source information feeds for Critical Infrastructure operational anomalies
- Provide support to the Senior Watch Officer in monitoring unclassified and classified accounts, in accordance with their security clearance for infrastructure related information
- Coordinate with the National Operations Center Office of Infrastructure Protection, other government agencies, and Critical Infrastructure owners and operators
- Participate in tests and exercises to maintain preparedness and improve coordination
- Responsible for generating Patriot Reports, Spot Reports, Current Situation Reports and Daily Sector Pulse Reports
- Assist the Senior Watch Officer in the management and response to telephone and e-mail inquiries and requests for information in accordance with operating instructions
- Oversight of Watch log to capture all reporting, requests, calls and tasks
- Conduct research of sources of information to prepare and develop appropriate responses accordingly
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor Degree from accredited College or University
- Background/expertise in Critical Infrastructure sectors and/ or emergency management
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and knowledge of WebEOC desired
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment, and willingness to learn
- Ability to effectively communicate and present reports and briefings to senior staff
- Active security clearance required – SSBI completed
Media Monitoring Analyst
TechOp Solutions International has opportunities available for personnel as Media Monitoring Center (MMC) Watch Officers. The MMC is a component of the Department of Homeland Security National Operations Center (NOC). MMC Watch Officers are responsible for assessing broadcast media (TV, Radio, Internet, Wire Service, etc.) and preparing, then distributing, to a predetermined list of recipients, a summary of articles of interest to enhance situational awareness for senior DHS decision makers. In addition, the Watch Officers assist in the development of specific reports on media coverage of certain events of DHS interest. MMC Watch Officers also support the capture and distribution of streaming video and still imagery available from open sources and DHS/Federal assets. This position involves shift work providing coverage to support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operations. This requires all MMC Watch Officers to work some weekends, night shifts and holidays on a rotational basis. Night and holiday shifts earn a differential bonus. Position is located in Rosslyn VA. Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Current active secret clearance desired
- 2-4 years military, law enforcement, or government operations center experience or Homeland Security oriented education preferred
- Experience in an information sharing or processing environment desirable in lieu of operations center experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with MS Office applications
